HBW Research
The History of Black Writing Novel Corpus - Since HBW's founding in 1983, its mission has been to identify texts that have been lost to history and advocate for their return, to increase the awareness of African American authors, and to create opportunities for teaching and learning. Our collection of nearly 7,000 well-known and lesser-known novels is in the process of being digitized.
A portion of the novels currently in the public domain, representing writing from a wide range of genres and authors, is available through our collaboration with the University of Chicago Textual Optics Lab.
